There are a variety of methods to aid in the decongestion of a stuffy nose, including chicken soup, neti pots, and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. If your congestion has lasted more than two weeks, call your doctor. If not, use these suggestions to breathe more easily.

Nasal Washing

To soften, loosen, and wash away mucus and rapidly alleviate your stuffy head, use a nasal irrigation kit or neti pot to rinse the inside of your nose. A neti pot has the appearance of a little teapot. It is accessible in the neighborhood pharmacy. Pick up some salt water while you're there. You might also prepare it at home. Add a pinch of baking soda, a half-teaspoon of salt, and 1 cup of warm distilled water from a bottle. For optimal results, use the nasal wash 1–2 times per day.

If you use them more than 4 or 5 days in a row, your nose may become even more congested. These products can occasionally make you uneasy or agitated.

Peppermint

Menthol, the primary component of peppermint, is a natural decongestant that may help thin out the mucus in your chest. Many cough drops and chest massages contain them. Also available is peppermint tea. Purchase it or create it yourself: One teaspoon of dried peppermint should be infused into a cup of hot water for ten minutes. Five cups may be consumed each day.
